Adolescence is society's permission slip for combining physical maturity with psychological irresponsibility. Adolescence is when girls experience social pressure to put aside their authentic selves and to display only a small portion of their gifts. I am in an adolescence in reverse, as mysterious as the first, except that this time I feel it as a decay of the odds that I might live for a while, that I can sleep it off.
